If nothing else, both the Swedish and German word for “furniture” comes from the Latin mobilis – which designates something that is moved around. Surf is moved around easily, yet it is no “furniture” according to the designer, rather “a tool for achieving maximum flexibility in activitybased venues.” Whether there is a computer or a couple of cups of coffee sitting on top of it.
